Team Building: It all starts with a card

During my journey as a real estate investor, I’ve had the opportunity to talk and meet people from all types of businesses…security, concierge, several banks, attorneys, non-profits, staffing agencies, etc.

Some of the contacts were reliable, some weren’t. That’s part of the game; however, you don’t want to be on the undependable side.

While flipping through your business cards, ask yourself: “How can these services benefit our company or our tenants”?

Here are some ideas…

  • Security- Do you have a project under construction? You may need to hire someone to monitor the building overnight.
  • Concierge- Are any of your tenants in need of someone to assist them with errands? What a great advertising piece!
  • Banks- List financing workshops or product promotions in your monthly newsletter (you do have a newsletter, don’t you?)
  • Attorneys- All of us need legal advice in some area of our lives. Free legal workshops are great sources of information for your tenants.
  • Non-profits- Several agencies cater to meeting specific needs for families. If you see an opportunity that may fit your tenants’ needs, inform them!
  • Staffing agencies- I don’t have to reiterate the issue with the job market. Keep your tenants paying by helping them stay employed! A great win-win for everyone.

Get my drift? These are great ways to market your properties and retain good tenants. Go above and beyond being the average landlord and find ways to help your tenants. We’re all in this together!

 Note to Self
  • Be a person of your word…ALWAYS! Word of mouth will always be the most effective advertising around.
  • Go above and beyond for your tenants and they will go above and beyond for you!
