The Very Beginning
Wow! What a journey I am about to embark upon. I am somewhat new to real estate and a complete newbie to real estate investing. I am reading everything I can to learn about this fascinating world.
I was a realtor for about 2 years in an upscale community. It was very tough competing with the heavy hitters and the veterans of the area. At the time, I didn't realize that I was being stabbed in the back by those that I held open houses for. So, with a heavy heart and my mind made up that I would never be like them, I left the field.
Now, here I sit, an unemployed Pastry Chef who can't even get a receptionist job, living in an RV and not a damn thing to my name. I was sitting at my computer one night looking for a job and thought, to hell with this. I am tired of relying on other people for my survival. I am tired of being poor. I am tired of not being able to do the things that I want to do when I want to do them. I am tired of wearing cheap clothes and driving cheap cars. I am tired of worrying about the fact that I have no retirement to speak of. Call me materialistic, I don't care. I am 43 years old and tired. I have never been more motivated in anything in my life! So, I dusted off the James Smith Series Real Estate Wealth System that I bought over a year ago and that is where my journey began.
After going through the program I discovered I had more questions with no answers. The internet is an overwhelming wealth of information that answered a lot of questions. Because I am new to this, I need to have a scheduled day. I get up early in the morning, eat breakfast, work out, take a shower and get dressed and get my butt to work learning new things about real estate investing. I just came to biggerpockets.com today and am already learning so much. Not really sure yet as to which area I will concentrate the most on. I have studied some on REO's and am learning on this website about fix and flip. I will be attending a tax sale in my area September 6th so I will let you know how that goes! I know I will have many questions after the tax sale so I have already signed up for a seminar given by the newspaper that prints the tax sales. As I said before, I am tired and fed up and it is time for ME to take control of MY life. I invite you to join me on my trials, tribulations and conquests! Enjoy the ride because I know I will!
