How to get Craigslist postings sent your inbox!
Do you use Craigslist to find deals? If you do, you already know you have to go to the site, pick a category (i.e. houses for sale ) and then filter by seller: owner vs broker, number of bedrooms, price etc. Of course this all takes time every time you visit Craigslist to search for properties.
What if I told you there is a way to have new Craigslist postings that fit your criteria delivered into your email box? No more having to go Craigslist.com and filtering to see exactly what you are looking for!
There is….IFTTT.com. IFTTT is a service that lets you create powerful connections with one simple statement: If This Then That.
Once you set up your free IFTTT.com account, you create “recipes” (instructions that are a set of commands based on certain events happening). For example, I could set up instructions for the following : IF a new FSBO posting for under $150k with 3 bedrooms in the Salt Lake area is posted (the THIS) THEN send an email to my gmail account (the THAT). Once you receive the email, you can click a link for the posting. You no longer have to go through the usual routine to find the postings you want to see. Set it and forget it!
This is just the tip of the iceberg with what you can do with IFTTT.com. Sign up for a free account and give it a try. There is also an app for IFTTT.
I’ll do a follow up video post showing you how I use IFTTT to get FSBO postings sent to my gmail account.

Jason, This is awesome. The more things you can automate, the better. Will definitely use this tip to find our next property. Thanks.

Hi Shaun. I used gmail to set up my IFTTT account and to receive my Craigslist postings. You don't have to use the same email account for both. You can set up the IFTTT with gmail for example and have your postings sent to a yahoo email account using Email as the That. When you select Email as channel it well as you to enter in any email account when you go to activate it.

I set it up to send and receive to the Gmail account. I just wasn't sure if that was a correct way to do it. It has been working so I guess it is! Thanks for the tip. One decent lead so far so worth the setup! I have found that a lot of people are posting things in the wrong area since 95%+ of the ads I've been sent are rentals (So the price is obviously WAY under the buy price I put in). Annoying but just delete those fast.

Cool site. Question though. I just setup an account and setup a recipe for getting a Craigslist search similar to what you talked about. When getting to the THAT it had sending an email from Gmail as the option. I just put it to send an email from that account TO that account as well. Is that what you did or did I do something wrong along the way to get it setup?
