Ventura County Recycling Program
Is one of your New Year's Resolutions to try to reduce your carbon footprint? One of the best ways to do this is to recycle. Many cities within Ventura County have recycling programs included with regular trash pickup. However, you may not know what is recyclable and what isn't. Here's a list of recycling centers that are part of the Ventura County Recycling Program:
Free Ventura County Collection Programs
All facilities in this list accept household, pool and garden chemicals, pesticides, car and household batteries, fluorescent light tubes, paint, solvents, motor oil and medication (not controlled substances). These facilities will not explosives, ammunition, fireworks, tires, radioactive wastes, infectious wastes or smoke alarms/detectors. You must call to make an appointment to drop off materials. Quantity limits for each visit are 15 gallons or 125 pounds of waste.
- Camarillo Clean Harbors Facility - For residents of Camarillo, Moorpark, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Thousand Oaks and unincorporated areas. This facility also accepts electronic wastes. Waste appointments are available for the second Friday and Saturday of the month. Call 805-987-0717 for more info.
- City of Simi Valley Program - For residents of Simi Valley and Moorpark. Waste appointments available for the 3rd Saturday of ever other month (January, March, May, July, September). For more info, please call 805-583-6321.
- City of Thousand Oaks Program - For residents of Thousand Oaks, Ojai, Santa Paula and unincorporated areas. This facility also accepts electronic wastes. Waste appointments are available for the first Saturday of every month. The month of December is closed. For more info, please call 805-583-6321.
- City of Ventura Program - For residents of Ventura only. Waste appointments are available for the third Saturday of every month. The facility is closed in December. For more info, please call 805-652-4525.
- Pollution Prevention Center - For residents of Fillmore, Ojai, Santa Paula and unincorporated areas. Waste appointments are available the fourth Saturday of the month. However, they are closed in May, November and December. This facility also accepts electronic wastes. For more info, please call 805-658-4323.
- Santa Clara River Valley Facility - For residents of Fillmore, Ojai, Santa Paula and unincorporated areas. This facility also accepts electronic wastes. Call 805-658-4323 for schedule.
Free Ventura County Recycling Centers
In order to drop off waste at these facilities, you will need to provide proof of residency first. These facilities accept antifreeze, car and household batteries, used oil, oil filters, latex paint, fluorescent tubes and electronic waste. Each facility has its own quantity limits. So, please call before visiting.
- Del Norte Recycling and Transfer Station - 111 S Del Norte Blvd, Oxnard. For residents of Oxnard and Port Hueneme only. Hours of Operation: Mondays through Saturdays, from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. For more info, please call 805-278-8200.
- Gold Coast Recycling and Transfer Station - 5275 Colt St, Ventura. For residents of Ventura, Camarillo and Ojai only. Hours of Operation: Mondays through Fridays, 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturdays from 8:00 am to 5:00pm. For more info, please call 805-642-9236.
If you have any items you need to recycle/dispose of that don't belong in the regular weekly trash pickup, contact any of these facilities that are part of the Ventura County Recycling Program to make an appointment to drop them off there.
