Cash for Appliances Program Extended in Ventura County
The Cash for Appliances Program has been extended in Ventura County. Since only about one-third of the federal money designated for the program has been handed out so far, the State of California has decided to extend and expand the Cash for Appliances Program to allow rebates for even more energy-efficient appliance purchases. The program is meant to help offset the costs of and encourage people to replace their old energy-guzzling appliances with new, more energy-efficient models to help save electrical costs and reduce energy waste.
The original program that began April 22, 2010, allowed Ventura County residents to receive a $200 rebate for a new refrigerator purchase, $100 rebate for a new clothes dryer purchase and $50 for a new room air conditioner purchase. Under the new, expanded program (as of July 29, 2010), new freezers are eligible for a $50 rebate, new dishwashers are eligible for a $100 rebate, new water heaters are eligible for a $300-$750 rebate and the purchase of new HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) units can bring a buyer anywhere from $500-$1000 in rebates. The new rebates are only available for purchases of these appliances made on or after July 29, 2010.
Thanks to these rebates, local appliance stores are also seeing a bit of a boost in sales. There is still plenty of money available in the program's coffers to help even more Ventura homeowners. And, coupled with rebates that many local utility companies offer (including Southern California Edison) and the added savings in energy costs, updating your appliances is even more cost-efficient. So, you're not only saving money initially, but over the long term as well.
If you haven't taken advantage of the rebates available, now is the time. The Cash for Appliances Program has been extended in Ventura County. Replace that old refrigerator, washer, dishwasher, water heater or air conditioner now. Save money and help the environment. It's a win-win for everyone!
