Apartment Renovation: Laws That You Need to Know

If your apartment is in Auckland and you’re planning to renovate it, then you need to follow some laws that are implemented by both the government and your body corporate.

What are these laws?

Well, apartment renovations will come under three categories. These three acts are the Unit Titles Act of 2010, Building Act of 2004 and Resource Management Act. These laws will act as the guidelines on how an apartment building should be run. It will also state how an owner should renovate his or her apartment.

You should also adhere to the laws imposed by the body corporate. As an apartment owner, it’s your duty to follow the guidelines set by the owner’s committee. You are not allowed to just change the structure of your apartment including the colour of its paint.

Therefore, apartment renovation is a very important topic especially if you’re planning to buy an apartment in the Auckland CBD.

I urge you to watch my newest podcast: Facts about Apartment Renovations. I will discuss in detail the facts about this particular topic.
