Pro Tip for Investing While Working a Full Time Job

I am not what you would call a successful real estate investor, yet. I am however working at/towards it. In an effort to have something that would serve multiple purposes I decided to order business cards that I could use not only for networking but also for marketing (heavy on the marketing). You can see images of the front and back on one of my previous posts.

Plans for the Weekend

I designed them one day then ordered them once I got paid from my W2 job. I was SO excited when they came in. I passed a bunch out at work, I wrote that post I linked to and in an effort to get going and actually doing something that will have a better chance of generating leads, I took the family and we went for a walk in a neighborhood we'd like to farm to start canvasing with the new business cards.

I had gotten a new Google Voice number in order to put that number on my cards and bandit signs when I finally do those so that I can know when I'm getting a call from my REI business. Here's the ProTip

When working on stuff for your business while working a full time job, make sure to double check your contact information carefully if you're posting anything with it at 3am!

So yeah, I put the WRONG PHONE NUMBER on my business card!!! It's not horrible, it's one number off (I put 355 instead of 335) but that then means that I now have to go through and do the ever-so-professional-looking cross out and write in the correct number... 2500 times (minus everything I had already passed out at work)!!!!

Luckily I figured this out before we went canvasing today. Wish me luck, we'll see what happens.

  1. Won't be the first time a mistake like that happens. Evening double checking for mistakes is tough because you know the correct phone number so your eye might not pick up the 335 instead of the 355. I put the wrong phone number on one of my mailings. I figured it out when our phones went dead silent and I looked back and double checked the letter. We ended up sending out a follow up letter with the correct number.
