Breaking News!

A little over a year ago, the Wall Street Journal had an article about buying real estate in retirement plans. This was "NEWS!" I'm not sure what separates NEWS! from Current Events as opposed to History. I have always considered NEWS! to be something that his happening currently, and something that the general public, myself included, may not be aware. If something happened at noon, and I heard about it at 6:00 pm, that would be NEWS! If something happened on Monday, and I read about it in the paper on Tuesday, hey, that would be NEWS!

But something that's hung around for 40 years is not NEWS! 40 year old information doesn't even fall into the category of Current Events. 40 year old information is HISTORY! Pure and simple.

Imagine the Wall Street Journal publishing an article "NIXON RESIGNS FROM OFFICE!" or "DOLPHINS DEFEAT VIKINGS IN SUPERBOWL VIII" in 2014. Yet they've published an article about real estate in retirement plans as though its brand new information.

The ability to buy real estate within a retirement plan is 40 years old!

40 Years Old!

What's NEWS! is how the average American has been kept in the dark as to all their options. What's NEWS! is the fact that one of the best investment options has been kept from the general public for most people's working lives.

Imagine a 25 year old graduating from college in 1974. He'd be retiring today. How many houses could he have acquired over that 40 year period in his IRA? How many no-money down deals could have pumped his IRA up to millions of dollars?

Here are today's stats:

Median 401(k) Balances For Retirees (65) At Different Income Brackets

  • For people who earn between $20-$40,000 a year the median 401k account at retirement is ~$70,000
  • For people who earn between $40-$60,000 a year the median 401k account at retirement is ~$105,000
  • For people who earn between $60-$80,000 a year the median 401k account at retirement is ~$170,000
  • For people who earn between $80-$100,000 a year the median 401k account at retirement is ~$255,000

Through the use of leverage and by spotting some really good deals, I put $140,000 in my Roth 401K in one year. That means in one year I've achieved what people earning $60K have saved for their lives.

That's NEWS!
