Bought a little piggy in Pigtown
Well part 1 of 3 down.
I months ago I wrote I Lost at an auction and that felt good
Well it is interesting how things work, how G-d works..... That house reappeared on the auction block and this time I got it, and about a month after it was auctioned, it is in my name. Now stuff gets real.
Until I get this thing fixed and rented out, it is not ready to be called a success. Seriously, if someone offered me $80K right now, I'd take it. Because the realness of it slightly scares me.
I've been only cleaning up a little bit while waiting for the property to close. The stain of the property not closing with the previous bidder made me not want to invest too much into this property until I saw something saying it was mine. From the time I won until now I doubted that it would be mine. The previous bidder had gone in and demoed the bathroom and most of the house. I understand why, but I don't know why he didn't bother to close the property.
Maybe the place was too friggin small. It is small. Smaller than what the tax records say. I'm okay with that, because it's like a tiny house, but not on wheels and three stories tall. I like tiny houses, well the idea of tiny houses. The problem I've seen at times in others renovations is a lack of respect for small spaces. Appreciating it for what it is vs hating its small size forcing it to be what it is not.
It's a good location. Nice quiet street, except for the crazy little dog next door. It's in the part of the Pigtown that doesn't have the cast of characters that made me say no to certain parts of the neighborhood.
So part one. Get a property. Done. Next part 2, clean it up and fix it up. Then part 3, rent it out at market rate.
