Not All Property Management Is The Same

Property management is a very special piece of the real estate pie. It is the service that no landlord wants to take on yet it dictates the entire health of your portfolio and your retirement plan. Property management is not designed to be a part time gig even though some people tell you it is. There are very specific moving parts that require strict guidelines to be followed so a portfolio doesn't end up in a disaster with mismanagement, vacancies and a mentally broken owner. If it is done properly , it can make the life of the owner very easy. I would strongly recommend to people that they know the management company they are hiring, ask about their internal systems, how many units they manage, how their systems work and how they handle problems that arise. The good companies will have all of this down like clock work. The not so good companies won't have the same answers as the good ones. That sounds like an obvious statement, but if you shop around, you will know the difference very quickly and it can save you thousands and thousands of dollars.
