Real Estate Guru

Attended my first local meetup (BWI Meetup) 2 weeks ago where they had a guest speaker Robyn Thompson the Queen of Rehab. I had no idea who she was before I decided to go to the meeting. I Googled her and read reviews good and bad.

I wanted to take a moment to comment about reviews I read about guru's like Robyn. I had no opinion one way or the other regarding Robyn Thompson and her ability to teach or share her message with others. While I read positive comments ranging from good to great, I have to wonder how many of the negative comments were written by people who either failed in their real estate venture or were not serious in learning from some one that is willing to share with others what they have learned in the business.

I attended my first BWI Meetup and the room was standing room only and there was probably over 200+ seats in the room. Robyn began to speak and the first thing I noticed is that she is dressed and speaks like everyone else and not like some pompous hot air blow hard showing off their success. She spoke well and commanded the room. I enjoyed listening to her speak. Of course she pushed her Saturday event being held by the BWI Meetup the following week where you would hear more. During the meeting she often pushed her CDs and 5 day boot camp but I didn't feel that took away from her message.

The take away from the meetup was a feeling of excitement and the awe of what I still have to learn to really be successful. I picked up some pointers that she mentioned during her 90 minutes that made some of my lingering questions fall in place by giving me a perspective I had not thought of in the pass.

I attended her Saturday session this past weekend and I have to say she is a speaker I can listen to all day. There are speakers where you look at your watch every few minutes and then there are those speakers who can hold your attention for hours before you notice the time, she is the latter. I attended the session looking for those tidbits of info that I can use to move my business forward and to hear from someone far more experienced than I.

She heavily marketed her materials and her 5 day boot camp and many took her up on her offer, I did not. I think it would be fun to attend her 5 day boot camp but I think the money would be wasted if my partner, my wife, did not also attend.

Since hearing Robyn speak I have been learning more detail of things she may have touched on during her sessions but not elaborated on just by searching and reading about it here on Bigger Pockets. We all should be happy that we have this great resource to be our very own crowd sourced guru.
