If Evictions Are Wrong in New York, Should Groceries Be Free Too?
Whenever there’s an eviction in New York, the landlord instantly gets painted as the villain because “housing is a human right.” But food is a basic human need too—and nobody argues that means you can walk into Walmart, take whatever you want, and refuse to pay. Housing being essential doesn’t mean landlords should be forced to provide it for free. Eviction is what happens when the agreement stops being honored.
