Want to know the actual secret to being an entrepreneur?
You get to meet people exactly where they are. Find whatever they're genuinely the best at, and use it fully. Respect them. Hear them out. Pay them well. Then watch them go around telling everyone how good you are, when they did the physical work.
Most people never get this far, because most people can't stop grading others on things that don't matter. Someone doesn't dress the part, doesn't speak smooth, doesn't present the way you expected, and just like that, you've decided they're not worth the room. You never even got to the part where they're brilliant.
That's not a hiring mistake or societal norm. That's a perception problem. You're judging the wrapping and skipping the gift.
The people who build something real learn to separate the two, to look past the surface and sit with someone long enough to find out what they actually know. That takes patience most people don't have, because it means slowing down when your instinct says to move on.
Do that enough times, and something strange happens. The people you took seriously start taking you seriously right back. Not because you did anything spectacular. Because you were one of the few who actually looked.
That's the whole secret. You don't build a reputation by being the smartest person in the room. You build it by being the one who noticed everyone else's smart, and had the patience to let it show.
