Someone who can inspect an existing foundation and recommend a an appropriate repair. Not the same thing as saying‘exterior guy’. Foundation specialist is someone who specializes in foundations

Comment was a bit vague.
I don't know anyone in your market, however here's a few things that might help:
Avoid the chain / national companies like Ground works or the likes. You'll pay out your tail if you go with them.
Just do a few Google searches for the subject at hand or for a structural engineer. We're doing a job now in a distant, somewhat remote place and our structural engineer knew a lot of people in this line of work and there were not a lot of results yielded through basic online searches.

one thing that helped me - hire a structural engineer first, not a repair company. the engineer gives you an unbiased assessment of what's actually wrong and what actually needs fixing. then you can take their report to a local repair shop and you'll know if they're trying to upsell you on stuff you don't need.
the repair companies give free inspections but they have every reason to tell you the worst case scenario. an engineer charges a few hundred bucks but they have no skin in the repair. totally worth it before you commit to a $10k+ job.
also with NC clay soils, a lot of foundation movement is just seasonal and doesn't always need major intervention. the engineer will tell you what's actually structural vs just cosmetic settling.

@Brian Gaines are you connected to the REIA in Greensboro? It's a good REIA. You would probably get better referrals for foundation guys from local investors.
