We are closing on an investment property soon and having difficulty finding a company that will provide us homeowners insurance. The properties roofs are from 1989 and it’s two separate homes on one lot. Most companies are denying coverage for those reasons. Any suggestions for help?

i'd suggest checking with some of the smaller, regional insurance companies that might be more willing to take on older properties. you could also try looking into specialty insurance companies that focus on investment properties or older homes. have you pulled up the local building codes or spoken with the city's planning department to see if there are any specific requirements for roofs in your area that might affect insurance coverage?
