Now I would certainly not consider this transaction to be a successful real estate investment, but the experience transformed our thinking in general.

Awesome transformation.

(We ultimately moved back but the cost of holding the property unrented over 4 years would have been equivalent to the equity lost) Issues that impeded home purchases during the crash:  Credit dried up:  ie, the mortgage business transformed from handing out mortgages to anyone with 0% down to denying mortgages to people with 800 FICO scores. 

My full-time job for this week is to re-wire my brain and figure out what I want to do when I grow up. . . .I went through that transformation back in the day.

Over $100 million in private construction happening within .5 miles, and the neighborhood is set to be completely transformed in 18 months.

My houses really go through a transformation in the last few weeks, after weeks of work, it really all starts to come together in the last few. 

I'm focus on B and C+ areas in the 27610 and 27601.These areas are transforming.

I was pleasantly surprised my bid won out, and given it was 5 minutes from my house, was excited to transform it (and have an easy commute to do so!).

The list isn't huge and we have a mailing company so we don't put in any criteria other than the zoning.We've also been doing more owner occupied in specific neighborhoods that we know are transforming in a good way.

It just is what it is and it's never going to be what you're trying to transform it into being.
