The beauty of it is that you will simultaneously be able to live for free, increase your net worth, and hopefully even realize an additional income stream all by implementing the house hacking strategy.

@Kristi BurmeisterI would say it depends on your own management experience level, the maturity of the management system you are going to implement, and the level of customer service you are going to provide.

Given your lack of experience, you need to stay away from D/C- neighborhoods and develop very strong WRITTEN vetting criteria and know how to implement it (not allowed to ask criminal history early in the process, etc.), AND implement it rigorously - sob stories need not apply.There is a very high failure rate among new landlords; you’ll find out why.
