For example, people who invest in single family homes rarely think about noise control issues, and extra insulation between units to cut down on sound transmission.

I would think this is at least good for practice analyzing, but like you would like to know if there are other/better ways.

Textbooks and school taught me the terms but being in the workplace has allowed me to learn how to put these terms to practical use.

So its really not very practical or your not going to have much success if you just hone in on one property... you must follow 50 or more to get one. not that you could not get lucky and pre foreclosure takes the competition out of it.
