Hey eveyone!
I wanted to get other agents thoughts on this. I am a broker in Missouri and I have a client that I handle leasing for (not management) that prefers that I sign the lease as a "authorized agent" on his behalf. Looking through our listing agency agreement with him I don't see any verbiage that mentions the ability to sign on his behalf.
Has anyone experienced this? I have no problem signing on this behalf but just want to make sure I can legally do that without raising a red flag to the real estate commission if audited.

@David Powers are you using standard forms provided by SLAR or are you using your own firm's forms? Our forms in KC provided by KCRAR has a specific line in the Rental Listing Agreement that states, "Broker is not authorized to execute any document in the name of or on behalf of Owner concerning the Property.". I would be surprised if SLAR didn't have similar verbiage in their forms.
My advise would be that if your client wants you to sign anything on his behalf, you need to have a document in place, such as a POA, to legally back your ability to sign on the client's behalf.
