It's time for action, and before I take the leap I wanted to tap into the vast experience of this amazing community. Countless books and podcasts stress the importance of finding an agent who is familiar with investments, or better yet, an agent who invests themselves. Further, David Greene points out the "Core Four," and an agent is the foundation upon which I wish to build my own core. That said, if anyone has a recommendation for a great agent in the State College, PA area I would appreciate it beyond words.
@Tyler Smith, I'm just reading through all the State College related blog posts and saw another from you. I know a couple realtors personally who are good people and seem to be killing it. Lassie McDonald with Remax, and Peter Chiarkas with KBB. Unfortunately, neither was my realtor when my wife and I bought, we used a friend of her family. He was a nice guy but I couldn't recommend him. Another important piece to to buying our home was the mortgage broker (Jeff Shoemaker- Citizens Bank) and he was awesome. I've recommended him to two other friends. I have also heard Brian Rutter with Remax is a great agent. I don't know him personally but we have a lot of friends in common and everyone speaks highly of him.
