Can a lawyer be a real estate broker- California

Hi BP,

To my understanding, a lawyer can become a broker without obtaining their real estate salesperson license as long as he/she passes the broker exam. 

Can a lawyer endorse a real estate salesperson to become a broker after he/she completes their 2 years of experience?

    Lawyers can conduct real estate transactions without a real estate license because they are already licensed to practice law, and therefore write up contracts. If they want to become a Broker, they will have to take and pass the exam.

    Maybe. Depends on the state. They can’t provide dual professional counsel simultaneously, so your broker cannot provide legal advice in the same transaction. It’s a conflict and you can find examples in state’s ethics opinions.
