I need some clarification pertaining to the inspection contingency.Does the contingency depend on the sellers response or can the buyer cancel the contract regardless?

As per the inspection clause, you would have to find a legitimate serious defect, notify the seller, and seller refuse to cure. It's not a " walk away because you want to" clause.
