Is it considered rude to ask for a 3% commission on a personal transaction?
I put in an offer considerably below list price and asked for a 3% commission. In this case the buyers chose not to respond. I called the agent to ask why and he basically said it was rude to ask 3% and that I should have asked for 0. I haven't really heard this from any other agent. So curious if other agents consider this rude?

If your offer was “considerably below list” they probably assumed you had included the 3% commission in that lowball. If you didn’t, you should have. You got off on a bad foot for no reason. Did you consider 1.5-2%? That’s what I paid on my last two sales as a seller and I simply added it to the selling price, essentially paying 0%. This is why I suggested you simply implement it in to your offer.
It might be too late in this deal unless they get desperate. But good luck.
