Do I renovate basement & add bath or move laundry upstairs for a flip?
I have a 3 bed 2 bath ranch house in Barrington, Il with a basement with a bedroom. Basement needs flooring and a few cosmetic updates. Trying to decide- Do I make basement look nice/ livable and add a 1/2 bath or do I use that money to move the laundry from the basement to the first floor and update the yellow granite kitchen countertop to quartz? Which of the two would you allocate money towards?

Updating the outdated granite and moving the laundry upstairs is better bang for your buck. Flipped a house in Barrington a few years ago and an outdated kitchen will hurt you. Buyers in this market are expecting higher end finishes.
As far as the basement, if I was going to add a bath, I would make sure it included a shower. A half bath is not worth your money especially if there is a bedroom down there.
