Hi all,
We refinanced an investment property we own in Riverside county, CA about 3 years ago. We have somehow managed to mis-place the file that had all the loan docs! I wanted to ask if it is possible to get a copy of the documents (mainly interested in the Note and Deed of Trust) from Riverside county? Is there a way to make an application online and get a copy of the docs from the Riverside county website, or any other way? I appreciate your advice on this matter. Thanks.

You can obtain a copy of any recorded security instrument from the county for a relatively small fee. Generally the note is not recorded with the security instrument. If it is not then simply inquire with your mortgage servicing company to see if they can email you a copy. It is not a common request so expect it to take a couple of requests and a bit of time to get them to issue the paperwork to you. It would be good to also request a copy of your title insurance policy as well for your records.
