how to search for duplexes/triplexes/fourplexes

Question

Hi all,

Is there a box to check (or a way to search) on Redfin or Zillow to bring up properties in search results that are duplexes/triplexes/fourplexes? I haven't been able to find a way (or find this topic discussion in the forums).

This will help: I didn't know this for years, but filtering down to 'apartments' on Zillow will give you the multifamily properties you are searching for. I never knew this before and would search in the keywords for 'rent', 'tenants', 'units', 'income', etc. Sometimes this will yield homes that do not show in the apartments filter, but most multis do come up under the apartment search.

Agreed with all the other comments however when using zillow you can enter duplex or multi in the key word search to help filter. Jay

Agreed.  Redfin is probably a better place.  If you are looking for MLS listing, get a realtor to setup alerts for you.

I have found that even with selecting multi-family that you don't always get everything. I will often look at everything but narrow the search by price range and or location. Scanning all the listings looking for multiple mailboxes, lots of cars, multiple doors will sometimes yield results.

Hi @Mark Poulton, thanks for responding! I will try multi-family. I can't remember if I did that or not but felt like it was leading me to a bunch of apartments so I was not able to limit the search to duplexes, etc. But let me doublecheck that.
