How to change number of listed Bedrooms?

I googled and searched BP but couldn't find a good answer.

My question is, how do you "update" the number of bedrooms a house is listed as having?

Assuming you follow Brandon's advice and find a house large enough to add a 3rd or 4th room, how could you update the records to reflect the additional room as opposed to it being labeled as a 2 bedroom with a "bonus" room?

TIA

When you pull a permit for the extra room, and pass final inspection, typically it will be automatically updated.

Your tax assessors office has to have it as 3 bedrooms. The buiding inspector needs to approve to be sure it meets guidelines. If you have septic for two bedrooms, it will always be two bedrooms. If a bedroom is too small for area guidelines to be a bedroom it will be two bedrooms. Sometimes the listing as a bonus room has to do with these factors

@Ernesto Hernandez , if you are referring to the MLS or sites like Zillow, you can input/update he BR/BA's. On MLS, you're agent can input how many BR you want to list it as. They will usually want to verify that the room meets the local specs to be called a BR, ethics and all. On Zillow, once you submit on the site that you are the owner, you can adjust the BR/BA's and SQ Ft.

As far as county records, those adjustments would need to be made by the county inspector.

Best of luck!
