So we are looking at Florida as a market to invest in, are there any areas/cities that investors would recommend looking at? We are looking at purchasing multi-family units, we can close with cash or if needs be private money.

It depends on how you intend to use the property as to the best area for investment. Are you looking for non-transient or transient tenants? Are you interested in affordable housing properties or high-end rentals? Our inventory is at historical lows and has been for years. Our year-over-year rental appreciation in Tampa Bay is rated #2 in the nation and our property appreciation continues to rise. It's a great market for "patient" investors who are willing to wait for the right properties; those that jump in can easily drown as some markets are "challenged" and get pitched to out-of-state/out-of country buyers.

@Eoin Bolger Hello, investing in Tampa is a great place to do so. It is one of the hottest markets in the country. Whether you're looking for a home to live in for yourself, invest in as a rental property, or flip. There are plenty of off market deals for you. If it's on the MLS you're going to pay close to full value, off-market deals are cheaper and can be purchased around 75% after all rehab is done.
