Just want a CPAs perspective on what I can expense on some invoices with follow up questions. Probably a 15 minute chat. Any state works. Feel free to reach out.
Stan, it 's the day before April 15th. Most accountants are very busy with their paying clients and can't take the time to give you free advice.
I recommend filing an extension and paying an accountant that specializes in real estate taxation for a consultation or paying that accountant to do your taxes.
Questions around what you can expense usually require a bit more context than a quick call allows. Rather than giving piecemeal answers, we start with an initial session to understand your full situation.
From there, we put together a diagnostic that outlines what’s currently happening, where the risks or gaps are, and the opportunities available. Then we recommend the right strategy - the “medicine,” so to speak - based on that.
If that approach makes sense for you, I’m happy to walk you through next steps.
In the meantime, I’d echo Bill’s advice....filing an extension is a smart move to give yourself time to get things properly reviewed.
Never said that I wouldn't pay lol, so not sure where you got that idea. I called plenty of firms and no one wanted to do a 15 minute chat. If they were willing to do a consultation, it had to be 1 hour and no one would pro rate. I was lucky enough to have people on here reach out regardless.
@Stan J., hi. Happy to share a quick perspective. Biggest thing is making sure expenses are ordinary, necessary, and tied to income, documentation is everything. Also worth checking timing (capex vs expense) since that impacts deductions. A quick review now can prevent issues later.
