Looking for a GC to convert garage to ADU

Bradenton, FL · Member since 2018 · 28 posts · 7 votes

Hey everyone,

I need to convert a garage to an ADU, with structural additions. Will also need some main house minor renovations. Could someone recommend me a good GC, that prices everything reasonably, with itemized billing and their mark up separated?

Location: Bradenton, FL

What is a reasonable markup to you?

Hi Igor, I came across your post regarding the garage-to-ADU conversion in Bradenton. Have you already found a GC, or are you still evaluating your options?

Since your project involves structural additions, I was curious whether you've already completed the structural design and permit drawings, or if you're still in the planning stage. Having those coordinated before construction usually makes contractor pricing more accurate and helps avoid costly changes later.

If you're still exploring the project, I'd be happy to answer any questions or point you in the right direction from an engineering perspective. If needed, I can also help review the scope and ensure everything is properly coordinated before construction begins.

Wishing you the very best with your ADU project.

@Igor Stankevich send me a message and I will connect you with a good friend of mine that is a GC in the area.

Like @Toby John said, get your plans and engineering in order first. Without this info, a GC has no way to give you anything but a rough number. And beware of looking for a 'reasonable' price (meaning cheaper, I assume?) First find the most skilled GC, and one that has proven he can stick to a schedule. Time is worth more than $$$.

    That's what I think too.
