Country Club Hills Residential Rental License

Hello

In Country Club Hills, the village municipal code requires landlords to secure a license proving the property is up to par. The problem is licenses for first-time landlords have been on hold. 

Is this ongoing and does it apply to other areas in the south side of Chicago?

    @Charles Hunter - I can't speak specifically for Country Club Hills, but I can regarding Chicago which does not do any type of rental inspection.

    I am from Elgin which is a far nw suburb and they do require a license as well and an inspection every two years.  Maybe my friend @Mark Ainley has familiarity working in the burb...

    Thanks @Jonathan Klemm.  @Charles Slonaker The only other village that has played games like this is South Holland.  They were the first to put a rental license moratorium in place.  I will email you the breakdown of village by village rental license requirements that we have under resources on our website.  It also talks about Point of Sale(POS) requirements many cities have which is the city inspecting the property before closing and any items needed to be repaired have to be negotiated between buyer and seller.  No Moratorium, rental license, or POS within city of Chicago city limits.

    Thanks. 

    I contacted Country club hills yesterday and they said that they are not issuing new rental licenses. The only way to rent in the hills is to have an existing tenant and a rental license. If you plan on keeping the tenant and have a rental license that’s fine, but if you plan on finding a new tenant you will break the rental license contract and they will not issue another one.

     It does not apply to the South Side of Chicago. It applies to some villages in the south suburbs.

    does that mean I cant buy a house in country club hills if I want to rent it out?
