Confirming somerRental requirement of potential tenants

Hi, I am a returning Pro member,

I obtained a property in Florida and I am renting it out. I am asking for 3 months (one months rent and two months security). I am also requiring for the tenant to pay for the background and credit check. Just want to confirm if this is standard in Florida or what are others doing?

@Jacqueline Pino Are you collecting all of this for a specific reason, or is this what you have always required? I mention this, because occupancy rates are down, specials at apartment communities are increasing. Please keep this in mind when negotiating renewals, giving non renewal notices etc… Vacancy really hurts that bottom line

Tenant paying for background/credit check - yes, typical. 2 months deposit not typical. First and deposit, or sometimes first/last/deposit.
