My wife and I are going to be moving to Lubbock for 3 years while our daughter is doing her residency at Texas tech and were wondering about the rental market. We own rental properties in Kansas City, MO and have been landlords for 15 years but we're curious if Lubbock is a good rental market as we are considering purchasing a place then keeping it as a rental after the 3 years. If anyone has some insight / experience I would love to hear from you. Thank you in advance.

Hey, Chad! I've been buying rentals in Lubbock since 2016 and I've lived here my whole life. It's a great market to invest in. The market has been pretty stagnant for the last few years so I feel pretty optimistic about the next few. I have a few dozen doors and they're currently 100% occupied. It's not hard to find and keep good tenants in Lubbock, as long as you have a quality property in a quality location. For SFR rentals, you probably don't want anything over $300,000.
