Portland  city of:  has just passed a new ordinance that kills month to month tenancy.

its is now quarter to quarter tenancy.

if you are a tenant at sufferance or on a month to month. the law now requires a 90 day notice to vacate...

This would be important to know if you are planning on selling or moving into your home etc etc.

lease expirations stay the same.

    There has been a lawsuit filed seeking an injunction claiming that the 5% rent limitation part of the rule, is a form of rent control. (which seems to ring true on the surface) Rent control is prohibited by state law. We'll see if a judge decides to grant an injunction while it gets sorted out.

    You can increase rent more than 5% in a year, you just now have to give them due notice. Not quite the same as rent control.
