Hey BP, a lady fell asleep driving and destroyed one of my fences at my rental prop. The cops gave me the police report, the driver's name, license plate # and name of her insurance but not her policy #. How should I proceed to make a claim on the driver's insurance to fix my fence?
Send a certified letter to her showing the damages and the cost to repair. She is liable, if she is smart she will give you her insurance information so they can pay for the damages. If not then you can file a lawsuit.
If you have the insurance company and name and driver license, simply contact their insurance company and provide them with that information. They can find the policy number. You really don't even need to contact the driver. You have the police report ascribing fault.
