Rental control base rent/rent cap in West New York, NJ

Hi,

The 2-family house was owner-occupied till we bought as an investment. Today we got a letter from Rental Control board of West New York, NJ. We need to register the house as rental control. What's the base rent or rent cap for 3-bedroom under rental control in WNY?

Thank you!

I don't think there is cap in this case. once the house are recorded in the rent control office, you just can't raise the rent more than CPI.

I'm astonished at the lack of disclosure that realtors and even your own lawyer can get away with. From rent control laws to  the eminent reval in Jersey City that will raise taxes on some properties by 100%, buyers are being surprised when they shouldn't be.
