I have a rental in Florida. I just accepted an application and starting to prepare the lease. When screening them I was under the impression it was just a married couple and a dog. I have just learned that they have 3 kids with 3 different last names. This concerns me because the wife has a pretty good job and it's possible she is paying alimony for atleast 1 of the kids. There application wasn't the greatest but they were the most qualified at the time and I knew they could mathematically afford it based on the data in the credit report. Were they required to tell me ahead of time if one of them is paying alimony?
Its probably not alimony but child support. And in the future ask about reoccurring payments, if you want that information.
Also you should ask if there are children who are there full time, part time, occasionally such as Summer, weekends, school breaks. Any person staying more than 2 days a month must be identified on the lease.
