AirBnB and Short Term Rentals:  The good, the bad and the awful

Everyone is talking about it, many are doing it, and some are profiting from it  From renting a room in someone’s apartment, to a vacation homes that people rent out part time, all the way to full blown businesses: The short term rental explosion is changing markets.  It changes the way we vacation, and it changes the way we travel on business.  It changes our expectations of income and workload as real estate investors.

We are gathering multiple investors with varying experiences in the short term rental market to give you a diverse perspective on what’s happening in this niche.  Some love it, some are making money, and some think it’s not worth the hassle.

We will discuss:

    Will you be recording and making it into a podcast? Consider using Zoom or doing Google Hangout in future on subject.

    Consider keeping discussion of Short Term Rental separate from Short Term Vacation Rental. They have different marketing strategies and investors.

    Consider doing 2-3 case studies omitting locations to protect successful hosts marketing secrets. It's like asking a successful fisherman where and what lake he caught the fish on.

    Todd, we do not record our events, but thank you for the suggestion.  You are not the first person to ask for this, but since none of the people suggesting have so far stepped up and offered to handle the process of recording and uploading, we have not implemented it.  Our entire goal with Black Diamond is for us, the partners in Black Diamond, to meet local real estate investors, and for that we want them to show up, not watch a podcast.

    The panel of 5 speakers are of course welcome to reveal or not reveal whatever they like.  We won't be monitoring their content or revealing anything they don't wish us to.  This is a panel discussion with audience questions throughout.  Lots of interaction and unscripted conversation.  We expect about 80-100 people, so it will be lively.
