Has anyone applied for funds through the Rental Assistance Program in Mississippi? Do you know if any of the funds have been disbursed at this point, or what the time line might be.
I applied 6 weeks ago and haven’t received any funds. The online portal is suppose to help you track the status of your application, but mines still say application submitted after 6 weeks. I tried calling the toll free number and speaking to someone directly. They’re not disclosing any information. Just telling you to use the portal to monitor your application.
I applied for a tenant my app is now saying application pending approval is that a good sign
Yes! By tomorrow the application should say “Application in QC review”. My QC review took two days before the status was changed to “Application Approved”.
How long before we hear anything about recertification

Has anyone received any type of communication yet? I did my recert the end of Dec and has heard nothing! I’ve been emailing and even left several messages for all of the recertification reps
Long story short...
*I began the re-certification process around the first of October 2021
*Still awaiting the payment as of June 3, 2022.
It has been 8 months. It is something I kinda just forgot about as I check the portal occasionally. I have gone 3+ months at times without a response or acknowledgement of messages.
@Charles Cox That’s way too long with no response! Call them! email them! They certainly forgot that you applied! There are NO messages from anyone in your message portal???
I agree, It has been way too long. I have definitely made the calls as well. Here are a few things I have learned.
1. Call well before lunchtime. If you are holding for any amount of time and 12:00pm nears you will be prompted to call back in an hour when they get back.
2. There is a local and a general number. It doesn't matter which number you call, they won't have any helpful information.
3. Most of the time the information you receive will be conflicting with what the portal states or what you have been told. Example: My portal status shows: Re-Certification Payment Processing. My latest phone call
the representative told me that my status was a mistake. She would continue to say that I haven't been approved. I asked her why the portal says Re-cert payment processing. Her response was "where did you see that".
My response was "beside my status on the portal. Her only explanation would be that it is wrong so...
4. They will tell you that you must be patient because they are working diligently to process an overflow of applications. I applied for re-certification mid October 2021. I told them it has been 7 months (actually 8 months now). I feel I have been somewhat patient. Even my landlord's portal shows all information to be current and her status states "Re-certification payment processing".
5. They have spent millions of dollars hiring a law firm to help process applications. That contract for $3.8 million, which has been the subject of scrutiny by the Washington Post and local community members, constitutes about 20% of the program’s total administrative budget. From my understanding the sole purpose of the firm's consultation is to detect possible fraudulent motives and help out I guess. The purpose is definitely not to speed the process. Who knows, I am merely an individual sharing my experience and my thoughts.
Here is a section of messages from my portal showing my experience communicating through the portal from November 14, 2021 to March 9, 2022. You will notice, there is actually a gap of almost 4 months without any acknowledgement or response. *Note* My message on December 21, 2021 is referring to my initial when I began the re-certification process.
