Hi all,
I'm looking for a good real estate agent for my mother who will be moving to Phoenix in 2 months. She plans to visit there in the next couple weeks to begin searching for a home, so i would like to connect her with an agent familiar with the area.
I thought the advice I shared with you about where Mom should live might be helpful to other readers, so I decided to post it here :-)
Here's what I would recommend if she hasn't made up her mind about where she wants to live already:
Scottsdale: This is probably the nicest part of Phoenix, unless you count Paradise Valley which is all luxury homes priced over a million. It's essentially broken into two parts -- South Scottsdale and North Scottsdale.
South Scottsdale is the older part of town, and is centered around "Old Town Scottsdale" which has a ton of charm. The homes are all older (and therefore more affordable) yet it still has a younger vibe since the Oldtown area is pretty hip and there are some students from ASU who live in/around the area.
North Scottsdale is all much newer and there's lots of new construction. I had one of my friends visit recently from the south phoenix area and he couldn't stop saying "Man, it sure it nice up here!" LOL! Lots of condos, golf courses, and plenty to do. She might even look to getting into a community like McDowell Mountain Ranch which would make it easy to find new friends and there would be plenty of activities to do.
My second recommendation would be the Gilbert area... why? Gilbert was ranked the #2 safest city in the nation for its size recently, has GREAT schools (which attracts quality residents) and the've recently renovated much of the downtown area so it's like it's some little podunk town in the middle of nowhere either.
Those are my top two recommendations, but ultimately it's going to come down to her budget and personal preference. No matter what i'm sure she'll find the right place.

@Miles Stanley Can you tell me a little bit more about your mom? What does she like to do? What kinds of things does she like? Is she a social person, or a stay-at-home person?
We have many great little community "all inclusive bubbles" in the Valley. I would love to know more about her before making recommendations so that I can target her specific needs. Phoenix is such a big place, with so many unique communities within.

@Miles Stanley My wife is an experienced agent that might be a good fit for your mom. She has sold everything from Mobil Homes to Multi Family but mostly residential. She is not a super high volume agent and so is not in any rush to close a sale and move on to the next client. Her approach is to let the client tell her when they like the house, when she takes a client out she is not "selling" anything, she is helping them narrow down to the right home, they always know it when they see it. Once a client finds a home they like she is a wizard at handling the negotiations and guiding the client through the escrow process.
