"Click Account Settings from the blue menu bar at the top of the page. Scroll to the Delete Account section and click Delete Account. On the following page, please select a reason for disabling your account. Be sure to click Delete Account from this page to confirm your account deletion."
The trick is to click the Delete Account on that second page as well...
