An analysis for The New York Times by Zillow, the real estate website, found 90 cities where the median rent — not including utilities — was more than 30 percent of the median gross income.

This is disturbing, and it's one of the reasons I'm happier investing in an area with lower rents than in my home town. I want to provide decent housing at a decent price, not gouge people who have no other choice.
