Brick/stucco siding, steel roof, full basement and reinforced doors. OSB to cover windows from the inside, water, food (dog too), generator, fuel and heater that requires no electrical power. Fire power, shotgun, rifle. pistol, cash and ammo. Radio, cell phones and ham radio for communications. Bug in don't bug out.
Amazing advice. I hope many more people would learn from this and your experience. I have personally lived a few days through an ice storm that took all power down. I had an elderly parent and a wood stove! We both did well as we had heat, a source of fuel for cooking and a store of supplies to last much longer then was needed.
