Hey BiggerPockets marketing experts.
I would like to know people's thoughts on using car magnets to generate leads? I have some but just have never gotten over the "tacky" factor to put them on my car.
Stupid I know. Obviously part of the beauty of a magnet sign is I can take it off in a situation where that might be an issue.
Anyway I was curious what people thought the effectiveness of this type of marketing is vs. other types.
I'm also curious if there are seasonal differences. I'm in MA so it would be interesting to know if there are seasonal differences with them.
Like is their a dip in the winter when all the old people with equity in Massachusetts go the Florida or Phoenix to play golf for 6 months. :)

I have used a magnet on my truck for a year now. I have gotten a few calls but no real leads. I do it mainly for tax write off. my vehicle becomes 100% tax deductible instead of keeping mileage records. Gave me so much deductions last year my accountant couldn't even use them all because he said it could get me audited even though all my receipts are legit.

So in one of the early posts on the thread I pointed out how I put on super cheap small magnets I had to make sure they laid down right on the car. Then when they seemed okay I upgraded to my nicer branded little ones.
I was afraid something might happen to the big ones that I actually paid a little money for. Figured I was being paranoid. So today I see the one on the passenger side was gone!
Don't know if someone grabbed it or if it fell off (One corner was not laying totally flat) but what are the chances that after deciding I was being stupid about it that like after 1 day the thing I was worried about actually happened???
I had the small ones in the trunk so I threw one of them back on that side (Driver's side one is still there) and have one more big one I will put on when I remember to bring it out.
(FYI Bought these 2.5-3 years ago so no idea why I bought 3:) )
, that sucks. Maybe the bigger magnets are too heavy to stay properly. When I was using magnetes I had the smaller versions like you first had.

They definitely didn't just slap right on there the way the smaller ones did.
As I mentioned a ways back they were stored in such a way that they weren't perfectly flat but I had smoothed them out a bit. There was a corner that was not flush though and it would have been one that would catch the wind so I am leaning towards that being what happened rather than someone taking it.
Worst case is I put that last big one on tomorrow and it falls off/gets ripped off and I just go back to the small ones. I probably have a dozen or more of those so I'll have my car tacky for a good long while even if I lose them pretty regularly. :)

Just got the signs on my car so I have no experience but I was thinking about also putting magnets on business cards and sticking them on the car for people to take. Like a tear off strip on a sign but something that could be used as a fridge magnet.
Not wanting to hijack the thread, can make a new thread if necessary.

...this is an interesting topic. I have been thinking about car magnets. If I just got 1 deal in a year, it would be worth it. Has anyone that is using lettering, or magnets received any leads that turned to deals?....update please :-)
