Umbrella Policy with non U.S driver under 22

Posted

Hello!

Trying to get an umbrella policy to increase my liability coverage now that i'm close to closing on my property in Florida.

I have a 21 year old au pair from Brazil who lives with me and drives my cars and is covered under my geico auto insurance.  I called my primary home insurance and they said they can't give me an umbrella policy because one of my cars is driven by someone under 22, who hasn't had a US license for more than a year (she had an international drivers license and a few months ago got a US license).

I asked for an exception, and to not include her in this coverage, it's more to protect my assets from anything that happens at the property by a guest who goes after my personal assets....

Florida is tough to buy a property outright with an LLC, so the property is purchased in my name, but i'm seeking further protection.

Anyone else run into this.........
