Avoiding a Life-Changing Mistake

Have you ever felt like giving up on something you really wanted?
I almost made that mistake on my first real estate deal.
It was the last house on my list, and I almost skipped it.
After three months of door-knocking with nothing to show, I was exhausted.
But out of discipline, I walked up to the house anyway, knocked on the door, and delivered the same script I’d said countless times before.
It reminds me of the “3 Feet From Gold” story.A miner gave up after months of digging without finding gold and sold his tools to a junk man.
The junk man hired an expert, who noticed a fault line and told him to dig just three feet away from where the miner had stopped.
The junk man did as the expert said and went on to mine millions in gold.
The lesson in this story is to seek wise counsel and never give up.
Standing on the front porch after delivering my same practiced script, the homeowner said “How can you help me?”
I was a 21-year-old college kid with no money, but I had a mentor.
Together, we struck a deal that proved you can buy a house below market value without using your own money.
If I had skipped that last house, I might have quit only 3 feet from gold.
Persistence creates opportunity.
So, whatever your goals are—keep digging! You may be just three feet from your breakthrough.
