You don’t get to deduct the mortgage interest on the old loan as investment interest on Schedule A, since that’s personal interest on your prior residence.Where it does get tricky is that you’re basically in the middle...you’re receiving interest from the new buyer, but you’re also still paying interest to the bank on the underlying loan.
