When you go to apply the paint you just need to make sure you keep stirring the paint because the sand in the paint will tend to settle and you'll get and uneven amount of sand on each step.

So far it seems the starting bid means nothing, they will drop the starting bid every week dramatically to try and stir up interest, but they have a very set minimum or reserve for the property, at least for a few weeks, then they'll drop that reserve as well.

This is common stuff, I'm not sure what the goal is or how you are "helping" you might be stirring the pot for no reason as nothing is likely to happen unless the elderly lady wants to take some action. :)
