This signals a major shift from the low inventory, high competition market that has been seen since the start of the pandemic. 

Good we aren't signaled out and bad that it is taking so long.  

At least you can signal to others your’e better than them.

Just as a short sale doesn't mean a borrower defaulted but still signals financial distress, a cash for keys agreement can be a red flag that should factor into leasing decisions.

They signal to potential tenants that the owner cares about upkeep and quality.
