This situation will be a festering wound in their lives until they come clean, admit their wrongs, potentially do some time in prison, pay restitution even if it means they are penniless afterward (not globe-trotting around buying flights across the ocean and living the Life of Riley in exotic locations), make amends, apologize unconditionally to the hundreds of people whose lives they ruined, take responsibility, etc.
